Knife Acacia Tree.
We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. A drought resistant bushy shrub or tree to 16 feet tall, 16 feet spread. One inch long grey-green triangular leaves (knife Like), tightly hug the drooping grey branches. It has fragrant bright yellow rounded flowers forming in clusters in the spring. Requires good drainage. Plant in full sun to light shade. It is frost resistant. Acacia cultriformis Initially has, bipinnately compound leaves with 1224 pairs of leaflets growing on the koa plant, much like other members of the pea family. At about 69 months of age, however, thick sickle-shaped "leaves" that are not compound begin to grow. These are called phyllodes, blades that develop as an expansion of the leaf petiole. The vertically flattened orientation of the phyllodes allows sunlight to pass to lower levels of the tree. The true leaves are entirely replaced by 725 cm (2.89.8 in) long, 0.52.5 cm (0.200.98 in) wide phyllodes on an adult tree
