We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. Soft Leaf Yucca is a variety of Yucca gloriosa. It is often grown as an ornamental plant, but it is native to the southeastern United States. In contrast to Y. gloriosa var. tristis, the leaves of Y. gloriosa var. gloriosa are hard stiff, erect and narrower. Yucca recurvifolia is a 4 to 6 feet tall evergreen yucca with lance shaped recurving to arching leaves. Soft Leaf Yucca is usually a single stem plant when young and can become multi trunked with age. The growth habit is rosette in youth and with age the plant can become tree like. This Yucca will bloom early summer to fall, the flowers are creamy white and bell shaped and are borne on 3 to 5 foot spikes. This yucca has excellent heat and drought tolerance. Can take full sun in Phoenix or Tucson.
