Here we are at Exit Glacier!

Exit Glacier is the only area of the Kenai Fjords National Park, accessible by road and is a popular Alaska tourist destination.

Exit Glacier area is accessible via a nine-mile road from the Seward Highway, just outside the town of Seward, Alaska. The road enters the park in the last mile and terminates in a parking lot.

Exit Glacier flows from the 300-square-mile Harding Icefield, and visitors can approach the towering glacier face on a one-half mile footpath which brings you right up to the face of the glacier.

The glacier is one of several that branch downward from the Harding ice field - a massive field of ice spanning the peaks of several mountains. Exit Glacier flows from the ice field down through two mountains where it creates a small river from its glacial melt.

The Harding Icefield Trail, a 8-mile roundtrip with 3500' elevation gain to overlook the icefield which is the source of the Exit Glacier (and others), starts at the foot of the glacier and follows the glacier flank upwards. We are now really getting into the spirit of Alaska!

The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (IATA: ANC, ICAO: PANC, FAA LID: ANC)[2] is the major airport in the state of Alaska located 4 nautical miles (7 km) southwest of downtown Anchorage.

Fairbanks and Juneau are the next busiest airports. Anchorage traffic peaks during June, July and August when passenger numbers are twice as high as between October and April.

Some of the most popular destinations in Alaska are: Anchorage, Denali Park, Fairbanks, Seward, and Talkeetna.

We would suggest flying into Anchorage, renting a car, and then driving to Seward.

We have placed links to Priceline.com on this page so you can arrange your flights into and out of the various places in Alaska; as well as hotels, and rental 4 wheel drive vehicles; when visiting this beautiful State.

Priceline.com can also arrange very nice Alaska Cruises; which we highly recommend.

Cruises are usually taken during the warm late spring through early fall seasons, due to the freezing temperatures of the winter.
