Discovered in 1743; Deir el-Bahri , literally meaning, "The Northern Monastery") is a complex of mortuary temples and tombs located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite the city of Luxor, Egypt. The funeral Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (1490 BC-1468BC) was built by the architect, Senenmut. The temple was inspired by the Temple Of Mentuhotep whose terraces and porticos it has reproduced. There are three temples at Deir el Bahri. Hatshepsut's temple, Tuthmosis III's temple, and Mentuhotep II's temple. Each in its' own special way blends into the natural surroundings.
