The El Gezirah Sheraton Hotel, Towers & Casino, is a five star hotel open all year, located on the southern tip of the El Gezirah Island on the River Nile. It is located within walking distance from the Opera House, the world famous Egyptian Museum, the city's shopping district, business centers and major government ministries. The hotel offers breathtaking views of the Nile, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Cairo Citadel. We stayed there January 4 - 7, 2,001. We highly recommend this hotel. We also were there during the slowest season of the year. We were just about the only guests in the hotel. Boy did we get the royal treatment! It has 447 rooms and suites with private balconies, in-room safe, mini bar, data port, television with cable and satellite, in house movies, hair - dryer , direct dial telephones, air conditioning, private baths, and non smoking rooms. The "Les Ambassadeurs Grill" restaurant serves gourmet specialities with classical entertainment and a panoramic view of the Nile. The "El Samar" night club has top international shows, serving international and oriental dishes. The "El Gondool" terrace is an outdoor terrace on the Nile with live entertainment. The "Regina" is a disco. There is a barber shop, a beauty parlor, a boutique, florist, gift shop, laundry, and a dry cleaning service. In addition there is guest parking, safe deposit boxes, lounges, and an outdoor swimming pool.
