Eremophila is a large genus of 214 species, all endemic to inland Australia. Spreading Emu Bush is a tangled, spreading, evergreen shrub growing to about 4 - 5 feet in height and 6 - 7 feet in width. The Spreading Emu Bush blooms in the spring and again at the end of winter. It blooms occasionally the rest of the year. It is enjoyed by hummingbirds. An ideal Xeriscape Landscape Plant in Arizona.

Height: Up to about 4 - 5 feet in height and 6 - 7 feet in width.
Flowers: Solitary in axils, sessile. Sepals 4, imbricate, subequal, lanceolate, 3.5�6.5 mm long, about 0.8�2 mm wide, apex acute to attenuate, glabrous or pubescent, green. Corolla 10�20 mm long, mauve to pinkish lilac, inside surface of tube and lower lip spotted, densely stellate-pubescent outside; lobes acute. Stamens enclosed.
Flowering Time: March - April. Again in the fall.
Fruits: Ovoid to conical, about 5�9 mm long, 2�4.5 mm diam., dry, woody, beaked and splitting into 4 segments at the apex.
Leaves: Dark green, narrow, shiny leaves. Oblong to linear-oblanceolate, about 0.45�3.4 cm long, 1�4 mm wide, apex obtuse, margins entire, glabrous or obscurely pubescent.
Found: Native of South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria on heavy clay soils in floodplains.
