Feather Bush Trees.
We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. An evergreen to deciduous tree native to southeastern Arizona's Rincon Mountains and into Sonora, Mexico.
Quick Notes:
Height: Up To 45 feet tall. Most are about 25 - 30 feet tall.
Trunk/Twigs: 3 to 8 inches in diameter.
Bark: Grayish-brown, thin, rough.
Flowers: Cream white; including many tiny stamens clustered in stalked balls 1/2" in diameter; late spring.
Blooming Time: Late April - May.
Seed Pods: Seedpods 4 - 6 inches long.
Seeds: Smooth, brown, hard seeds are only slightly flattened.
Leaves: Pinnately compound. With 6 - 8 pairs of pinnae and 20 to 35 pairs of tiny leaflets per leaf that are each linear to oblong up to 3/16 inch long. The leaves turn golden yellow and fall off in Spring. They are quickly replaced.
Found: The USDA claims it is native to the USA (AZ). Native in Arizona to Pima county. Native to Mexico in northern Sonora. Native to the Sonoran Desert.
Elevation: 0 - 2,900 feet.
Hardiness: Not very cold hardy below 28 �F.
