A felucca is a traditional sailing boat made of wood that is used especially for river cruises in the protected waters of the Red Sea and the eastern Mediterranean. They are especially popular along the Nile River in Egypt.
A felucca boat consists of one or two lateen sails. Normally feluccas have the capacity to carry about ten passengers and the crew usually consists of two - three people.
Felucca sailing boats are used all over the Nile near Aswan. Especially near Elephantine Island. They are really fun to ride on and their owners seem to have a lot of fun taking us on our tours. When we started out, the sailors soon got us all to
sing and dance as we sailed the Nile. What a happy time we all had!

The Cairo International Airport (IATA: CAI, ICAO: HECA) is the busiest airport in Egypt and is located to the north-east of the city around 15 km from the business area of the city.

After getting a flight and a hotel we suggest asking your hotel concierge to arrange either a car or a tour of Elephantine Island, Aswan, or the Cairo area. If you call their Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you.
We do this all the time, when traveling in Egypt. It is safe and it works!!! We have never experienced a problem, doing it this way!
