Nemophila maculata is a fast-growing, mounded, low spreading plant which is useful as a groundcover. Its serrated foliage is decorated with 5-petaled blue flowers with white centers. it is very attractive to bees. Five Spot is a dicot in the family Hydrophyllaceae, is an annual herb that is native to California. Moved from the Forget Me Nots Family ( Boraginaceae ) into the Waterleaf Family ( Hydrophyllaceae ).

Height: Up To 1 foot tall.
Flowers: 5-petaled, white, purple-veined flowers, 2 inches across, with strong violet spots at the petal tips.
Flowering Time: April to May.
Leaves: Opposite, oblong to ovate, 5�9-lobed, lobes entire or 1�3-toothed; upper leaves oblanceolate to spoon-shaped, sessile, tip 3-toothed or entire.
Found: The USDA claims it is native of the USA (CA, OR, UT).
