Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, also known as Prescott Animal Park Association (PAPA), is a non-profit animal sanctuary in Prescott, Arizona, USA. It was formerly known as Heritage Park Zoo, & most visitors still call it by that name.

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary was founded in 1985 by Trisha Williams and Bob Matthews (both of Prescott, Arizona).

The Heritage Park Zoo started out with just one animal: a Bengal tiger cub named Shikar.

The Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is a sanctuary for non-releasable wildlife, with no other place to live out the rest of their lives. Heritage Park Zoo is also dedicated to education and conservation.

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary, dedicated to the conservation and protection of native and exotic animals. Located in Prescott, Arizona, the sanctuary provides a source of recreation, education and entertainment for all ages.

With the mission of "Conservation through Education," Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary provides a unique and up-close experience with animals visitors may see nowhere else.

The animals at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary all have a story and lesson to teach.

Most are incapacitated and have been rescued from the wild or from inappropriate captive situations.

At the sanctuary, the animals are respectfully displayed in natural habitats intended to educate the public on a variety of topics.

Additional educational services are provided to Northern Arizona such as outreaches and guided tours of the facilities.

This is the perfect zoo for small children.

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary Hours & Fees:

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is open 365 days a year!
Summer Hours
May 1 through October 31: 9 AM to 5 PM daily
June, July, August: Open until 8 PM on Saturdays
Winter Hours
November 1 through April 30: 10 AM to 4 PM
Admission
Members: FREE
Seniors: $7 (ages 65 and over)
Adults: $8 (ages over 13)
Children: $5 (ages 3 to 12)
Infants: FREE (ages under 3)
Group Rates (with 20 or more paying admission): Adults: $7 Children: $4
Guided Tours - prior or advance notice required for all tours

Note:

Prescott is the home of three museums that describe the culture of the area. Here are Links to their websites. They are the Phippen Museum, the Sharlot Hall Museum, and the Smoki Museum.


If you are planning to visit Prescott and the Prescott area and you are coming from outside of Arizona, you could fly into Phoenix and then rent a car. Prescott is a little over a 2 hour drive from Phoenix off of the scenic I-17 route by taking Arizona 69.

There are hotels and motels all along the way in nearby towns.
