Height: Up to about 16 inches. Spreading out to about 24 inches wide.
Flowers: Yellow flowers with 4 petals up to 1/3" wide followed by a spherical pod with a pointed tip.
Flower Stalk: The flower stalk is about 18" - 30" long, smooth, and dark green.
Flowering Time: February - May.
Seed Pods: Round pods about 1/8 inches with a slender point.
Leaves: The leaves are simple, smooth - edged (occasionally lobed), they are narrow up to about 2 inches long.
Found: Native to Kansas, Virginia, the Southwest of the US, the southern Prairie States of the US and Sonora Mexico.

Habitat: Alkaline, well-drained/light soils. Washes in the desert environs, Irrigated fields, moist fallow fields, roadsides. Found throughout lower elevations in Arizona.
