When we checked in for the cruise on the Oberoi Shehrayarr, it was to take a cruise on the Nile River in Egypt on the river between Luxor and Aswan. The Oberoi Shehrayarr also returns by taking passengers from Aswan to Luxor.
Our cruise was during the very slow tourist period; from December 30, 2,000 to January 02, 2,001.We had an excellent tour. And a Happy New Year! We highly recommend this ship and its crew! This is also the best time of the year to take this tour! ie... Its cool, quiet, not crowded, calm, no bugs, and no smell from the river!
Here is the Itinerary of the 4 nights (5 days) cruise departing from Luxor to Aswan:
Day 1
Visit Karnak & Luxor Temples. Then drive to Essna. Embarkation at 12 noon. Buffet Lunch. Afternoon Tea. Cocktail Reception. A la Carte Dinner. Music And Dancing. Stay Overnight in Essna.
Day 2
Buffet Breakfast. Visit the West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Queens, Madinet Habou & the Colossi of Memnon). Buffet Lunch. Sail to Edfu. Afternoon Tea. Black & White Dress Dinner. Music & Dancing. Overnight in Edfu.
Day 3
Buffet Breakfast. Visit the Temple of Edfu. Sail to Kom Ombo. Buffet Lunch. Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo. Egyptian Buffet Dinner. Galabiya Party. Overnight in Kom Ombo.
Day 4
Sail to Aswan. Buffet Breakfast 10.00 am. Visit the High Dam, The Unfinished Obelisk & Philae Temple. Lunch. A la Carte Dinner. Music & Dancing. Overnight in Aswan.
Day 5
Buffet Breakfast. 8.00 am Disembarkation. Visit the Botanical Garden by Felucca.
The Cairo International Airport (IATA: CAI, ICAO: HECA) is the busiest airport in Egypt and is located to the north-east of the city around 15 km from the business area of the city.
Cairo International is the second busiest airport in Africa with over 65 airlines using the Cairo airport (including charter airlines) and 9 cargo airlines. With the assimilation of EgyptAir into Star Alliance in July 2008 the airport has the potential to be a major hub with its positioning between Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
In 2008, the airport served 14,360,175 passengers and it is one of the top 100 airports in the world.
The airport handles both domestic and international flights, and is open 24 hours a day.
We suggest flying into Cairo and staying in one of their many fine hotels when touring Cairo and the ruins in the surrounding areas.

The Aswan International Airport (IATA: ASW, ICAO: HESN), also known as Daraw Airport, is the airport located in Aswan, Egypt. You can arrange flights directly to Aswan, If you wish.
Today there are more than 220 Nile cruisers on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, including 4 star, standard 5 star, deluxe and imperial Ultra deluxe.
After getting a flight and a hotel we suggest asking your hotel concierge to arrange a tour of Aswan or the Cairo area. If you call their Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you.
Nile River Cruise Ship's can be arranged in the same way, however we suggest that you contact the Nile River Cruise's directly.
We do this, when traveling in Egypt. It is safe and it works!!! We have never experienced a problem, doing it this way!
