We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. Kalanchoe luciae ssp. luciae is a branching succulent with paddle shaped leaves that form reddish margins in good light. Kalanchoe luciae is often confused with Kalanchoe thyrsiflora, which looks almost the same, but doesn't form the reddish color. It is a fast grower that will grow from a solitary shoot into a clump of branches about 2 foot high and wide. It is easy to grow from leaf cuttings. The leaves are covered with a gray bloom and the leaf margin takes on a reddish hue during cooler winter months if grown in bright light, otherwise the leaves remain uniformly green. As it grows the petals of the flowers stick straight out at first and then fold back up on themselves as the flower opens.
