Pink Trumpet Vine.

A large, sprawling, woody vine that is good as a groundcover or on chain link fence. The evergreen pinnate leaves have 7 to 9 leaflets that have pointed ends. Pale pink bell-shaped flowers with red stripes bloom in the summer. Best in full sun with occasional water. Native to South Africa, found at the mouth of the Mzimvubu River at Port St Johns, roughly half way between East London and Durban on the Eastern Cape coast In its native area, it does best in full sun, in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil and benefits greatly from regular applications of well-rotted compost and plenty of water in summer.

Height: Height to about 20 feet. Equal or greater spread.
Flowers: Pale pink bell-shaped flowers with red stripes.
Flowering Time: Mainly April in Phoenix. Does bloom in November - March.
Seed Pod: A long, narrow, straight, flattened capsule. The seeds are brown, ovate and flat, in a large rectangular papery wing.
Leaves: Dark green, pinnatecompound leaves have 7 to 9 leaflets that have pointed ends.
Found: Native to South Africa (Zimbabwe). The USDA claims it is native of the USA (FL), USA+ (PR).
Hardiness: Reported to be root hardy in West Brookfield, MA (Zone 5b).
