We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. Most people know this plant by the name Big Saltbrush. An evergreen, dioecious shrub, spreading to round in shape. About 5 to 8 feet tall, it can reach a 4 to 8 feet spread. It's leaves are simple, alternate, pubescent, round to somewhat triangular, with a pale gray green color, up to 2 1/2 inches long an 1/4 inch wide. Survives in salty soil. Drought-tolerant; suitable for xeriscaping.

Height: Up to about 5 - 8 feet in height. Spreading to about 4 - 8 feet.
Flowers: Staminate and pistillate flowers are borne on separate plants in dense, terminal paniculate spikes. Greenish flowers.
Flowering Time: Late May - Mid August.
Leaves: Simple, alternate, pubescent, round to somewhat triangularwith a pale gray green color.
Found: The USDA claims it is native to the USA (AZ, CA, HI, NV, UT). It is native in Arizona to the western half of the state. It is also native to northwestern Sonora, & Baja California Norte, Mexico.
