Height: Up To About 18 - 30 Inches Tall.
Flowers: Yellow with 5 petals and they are up to 1/5 inches wide.
Flowering Time: February - April.
Leaves: No petals; 6 petaloid or sepaloid sepals, rarely 4; stamens usually 6; 1 pistil; Small flowers in clusters usually greenish to pinkish in color; flower cluster 4� to 16� long. They are replaced by showy pink/red/brown seed pods.
Found: Native to the USA (AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, OK, TX, UT, WY). Also native to northern Mexico in northern Sonora, northern Chihuahua, Baja Norte, Baja California, & Coahuila.

Elevation: 0 - 6,000 Feet. Usually found above 800 feet.
Habitat: The desert environs, where it occupies open, gravelly, sandy, rocky areas, washes, and roadsides. It can also be found growing in almost any unshaded area, including flower beds, fields, and waste places.
