Polygonum aubertii is a fast growing, deciduous, climbing, twining, vine, it may grow 10 to 15 feet tall in a single season. It is known to reach heights of 25' to 35' tall with similar widths. The foliage is a bright green, its new leaves have a reddish bronze hue. Silver Lace Vine has small, fragrant flowers that bloom in Early Summer to Late Summer, ranging from greenish to white, sometimes with a pink tinge, borne abundantly on slender panicles. It's fruit is not showy. It spreads by rhizomes and is very vigorous, it is tolerant of dry soils, heat, humidity, rabbits, & slopes. It is almost a weed in some places. This species has demonstrated an invasive tendency in Connecticut, meaning it may escape from cultivation and naturalize in minimally managed areas. Japanese beetle may attack this plant. It has value as a quick cover, particularly where other vines won't grow. Native to western China and Russia.
