We wish to thank Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some of the information on this page. We share images and information with Wikipedia. Maximilian sunflowers are tall perennials unlike other sunflowers which are annuals. Some books place them as annuals. They have one or more stalks and long, narrow, pale green leaves. Helianthus maximilianii produce large bright yellow flowers up to three inches across in a spiral around the stem. This plant grows from one to about ten feet high, but they are usually about four to six feet tall. Maximilian Sunflowers are grazed by cattle and deer. They produce an abundant supply of seeds, which many species of birds find hard to resist.
