If you are planning to visit the Sydney. And if you are coming from outside of Cape Breton Island , you could fly into the Sydney/J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport located within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The Airport is served year round by Air Canada with prop service to Halifax and seasonal CRJ service to Montreal, and then rent a car. There are some hotels and motels in the area. We have some links to Priceline.com on this page since they can arrange all of your air flights, hotels and car. They also book cruises. We,of course, appreciate your use of the advertising on our pages, since it helps us to keep our pages active.

We chose to cruise into Sydnay and to take a tour of the Bras D'or Lakes by going to Baddeck, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island.
Sights to see include:
Bald Eagles: Cape Breton is home to hundreds of pairs of nesting bald eagles. We were able to see these wonderful birds on our tour. There are several nests nearby that can be viewed from the Amoeba. The eagles have even been trained to circle the boat while we were sailing, because they know that Captain John Bryson will sometimes throw them a fish. As they dove into the water to retrieve the fish, it made it possible for us to have incredible photo opportunities. Baddeck Shoreline: From the comfort of the Schooner Amoeba, we enjoyed the beautiful Baddeck shoreline and the lush trees and flowers. We had wonderful views of the Bell Museum, the Bell Bay Golf Course, Alexander Graham Bell's mansion Beinn Bhreagh, the surrounding communities of Washabuck, and Boularderie Islands, Kempt Head and Spectacle Island (Bird Sanctuary). This was probably the highlight of our entire cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines.
We were here on the afternoon of October 06,2010.
