Woolly Tidestromia.

Tidestromia lanuginosa is a species of flowering plant in the amaranth family known by the common name woolly tidestromia. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern to central Mexico, where it grows in many types of habitat, including desert canyons and woodlands, riparian zones, desert and coastal scrub, beaches, and disturbed habitat such as roadsides. Woolly Tidestromia in the U.S., is considered a herbaceous annual weed. It is be found growing wild and/or cultivated in much of the southwest USA. It usually blooms after the summer rains in Arizona.
Quick Notes:
Height: Up to about 16 inches. Spreading out to about 2 - 3 foot wide.
Flowers: Yellow with 5 petals and they are up to 1/5 inches wide.
Flowering Time: August to November.
Stems: It has smooth, reddish, mostly prostrate stems.
Leaves: The leaves are hairy, silver white. alternate and broadly obovate. Each succulent leaf is entire and the leaves are clustered at stem joints and ends.
Found: Native to the USA (AZ, CA, CO, IL, KS, LA, MO, NM, NV, OK, PA, SD, TX, UT). Also native to northern Mexico in northern Sonora, northern Chihuahua, Baja Norte, Baja California, & Coahuila.

Habitat: Sand dunes, in gravel washes, mesas, ridges, alluvial plains, and slopes. It can also be found growing in almost any unshaded area, including flower beds, fields, and waste places.
