Glen Ilah is a very small community located in Yavapai County at latitude 34.215 and longitude -112.759; very close to the small town of Yarnell. In fact, it is hard to tell where Glen Ilah ends and Yarnell begins. The official elevation of Glen Ilah is 4,836 feet. Glen Ilah is located in zip code 85362. Even before the area received its name, Glen Ilah was an important point on the stage route extending from Ehrenberg to Wickenburg. The stage would stop at a stone house located in Glen Ilah, before entering Yarnell and then it continued on northward through Antelope Valley into Prescott, Arizona.

Glen Ilah is located in Northern Arizona, in southern Yavapai County on U.S. Highway 89, at the top of Yarnell Hill, between Antelope Peak and the Weaver Mountains. It sits at an elevation of about 4,800 feet. It is surrounded by huge boulders, nestled among Oak and Juniper trees, intertwined with Skunk Bush, Scrub Oak, and Manzanita. Glen Ilah is about 75 miles northwest of Phoenix, 25 miles north of Wickenburg, and 33 miles south of Prescott.

"Silver Pines" is the name given to our home located in Glen Ilah by Audrey DeLange. She named it for the three Colorado Blue Spruce that we planted in our front yard; since the pines had a silver look to them. That of course, matched the silver blue paint of our home.

Wildlife abounds in the natural surroundings of Glen Ilah, we often see deer, javelina, bobcat, mountain lion, ring-tailed cats, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, gray fox, skunks, porcupines, and coyotes wandering in the native scrub oak, manzanita, and wildflowers along the paved streets of Glen Ilah. Often, they will stand still and allow you to take their pictures.

Fifty-nine different species of birds are known to either migrate through the area, or reside here year - round.

Numerous butterflies can also be observed in the area as they flit among the wildflowers. In fact, one person has observed over fifty species in the area during a one year period of time.

This is a wonderful place to visit or make as your home, so that you can get away from the conjestion and poor air quality of the metropolitan areas and simply enjoy nature.

As such, we have made it our primary residence!

"Silver Pines" was completely destroyed by The Yarnell Hill Forest Fire!

But, we are rebuilding, so we will post new photos at that time of the "New" Silver Pines.

Oh, our "Silver Pines" sign is the only thing that didn't burn. So, it is still on our property!
