Holiday Inn Hotel Cuernavaca Mexico BLVD DIAZ ORDAZ 86 CUERNAVACA, 62440 MEXICO Telephone: 52-777-3620203 Cuernavaca is the Capital City of the State of Morelos, Mexico. It is about 45 minutes from Mexico City (one hour and thirty minutes from the international airport) by the way of the Mexico-Acapulco expressway. Cuernavaca is world-wide known as "The City of Eternal Spring" due to its excellent climate. The Aztecs called it Cuauhnahuac, meaning "place by the woods". This city became a hunting grounds and resort for their rulers. Then iIn 1532, after Hernan Cortes seized and destroyed the city, he then built himself a palace. The Spanish changed the name from Cuauhnahuac to Cuernavaca because they could not pronounce Cuauhnahuac. Considered a sanctuaryfor the rulers of Mexico, the Aztec ruler Moctezuma, and colonial empire builder Maximilian, both built retreats there. Cuernavaca is now a modern tropical city that hosts a score of scientific research institutes, and industrial park with over one hundred industries, seventeen universities and extensions of the National University In Mexico City, and a global assortment of retires diplomats, business executives and government officials. There are many nice places to visit and to eat in Cuernavaca. The surrounding mountain views are beautiful. It is equipped with all the necessary things that a typical business traveler would need along with all the leisure activities such as a spa, fitness room and two outdoor pools. Each of the 106 tastefully appointed guest rooms feature amenities such as air conditioning, alarm clock radio, bathrobe, coffee/tea maker, complimentary coffee, custom bath amenities, data ports, direct dial telephone, hair dryer, in room safe, cable TV, turn down service, voice mail and wake up service. Major attractions that are within close proximity to the Holiday Inn Cuernavaca include Cortes Palace, Museum Robert Brady, Xochicalco Arqueologic Zone, Cathedral La Asuncion, Tequesquitengo Lake, Tepoztlan Arqueologic Zone and Botanic Garden. The man who was one of the managers of the hotel treated us very kindly. He is highly educated and he speaks English very well. He also drove us to some of the ruins near Cuernavaca on his day off. His name is Antonio Iriondo. We will always be grateful to Antonio for the kindness he extended to us. The rooms are clean. The resturant is clean and the food is excellent. The service is excellent. The parking lot is secure. The employees are friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel when you are visiting any of the following ruins and attractions in the Cuernavaca area. Teopanzolco, Xochicalco, the Muros Museum house, or Tepoztlan. We would recommend flying into Cuernavaca, staying at the hotel and then letting them arrange either a car or a tour of Cuernavaca. If you call their Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you. We hire the driver for the day and it is the safest and least expensive method we have found over our many years of traveling in Mexico. Since you can fly into Cuernavaca from the USA or from other countries, we have a link to Priceline on this page where you can arrange your flight as well as your hotel. Some people prefer to fly into Mexico City first. We were last at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Cuernavaca, Mexico on January 12 and 13 of 2004.
