After the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, the Saints were led from Nauvoo to the site of modern day Salt Lake City. It was not too long afterwards that Brigham Young directed the Saints to expand their growth into other areas. Elder Pratt paraphrased saying, "that the Salt Lake Temple would not be the only temple built, but there would be hundreds of temples on the earth." He added, "Today, we are seeing the fulfillment of this prophecy." The Villahermosa Tabasco Temple was dedicated by President Thomas S. Monson on 21 May 2000. The Villahermosa Mexico Temple is officially considered the 85th LDS Temple. Three other temples built are not considered in the official count. They are the Kirkland Temple, The Original Nauvoo Temple, and the Apia, Western Samoa Temple which was destroyed by fire on July 9, 2003. The Villahermosa Mexico Temple is located at: Av 27 de Febrero 1717, Atasta de Serra, Cuadrante II, 86100 Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. The site is on a site of 1.36 acres in size.
